Mounties arrested an Ebb and Flow First Nation man after he allegedly fired a gun inside a home on Sunday.

Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP were sent to the residence at around 3 p.m. and while they were on their way, they received an update that the suspect, who was known to police, had ran away, RCMP said in a news release.

Police arrived at the residence and were told that there had been a “disturbance” between the suspect and another man in the home when the shots were fired, Mounties said.

Police said the suspect ran into the woods without the firearm and no one inside was injured.

Manitoba RCMP police dog services and members of the Manitoba West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team helped search for the suspect.

A short time later, police dog Marook assisted in finding the suspect in an empty lot, the release said.

Officers arrested the man and he taken into custody with a minor injury.

Shawn Francouer, 26, faces several charges, including discharge of a firearm with intent, assault with a weapon, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number and mischief over $5,000.

Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP continue to investigate.
