ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON
The Brandon Police Service arrested a woman early Wednesday morning after she allegedly stabbed a man.
Police went to an apartment building on the 400 block of 10th Street at around 3 a.m. after receiving a report of a man yelling for help and saying that he had been stabbed.
Officers found a 32-year-old man inside who said he was sleeping at the time of the stabbing, BPS said in a news release Wednesday. A woman with blood on her clothes and shoes was also at the scene, police said.
An ambulance transported the man to the Brandon Regional Health Centre, and officers arrested the woman.
Police said the man’s injuries included cut and stab wounds on his ribs and leg, which were not life-threatening, and he was expected to be released from the hospital shortly after arrival.
The woman was held in BPS detention cells and is set to be released on an undertaking with a future court date once she is sober and the BPS crisis response unit assesses her.
BUSINESS BREAK-IN
The Brandon Police Service arrested a man on Tuesday in connection to an overnight break-in at a business.
At around 8:30 a.m., an employee at a business on the 3200 block of Victoria Avenue reported that someone had broken into the building overnight.
The suspect smashed one of the windows to get inside the building and stole a truck, two laptops and several tools, BPS said in a news release Wednesday.
Police said they identified the suspect through surveillance footage. At around noon, BPS received a report that the stolen vehicle was fuelling up at a business on the 1000 block of Richmond Avenue. Officers responded and recovered the vehicle, along with other stolen items, police said.
Police arrested a 42-year-old man, who was taken to the BPS detention unit and held there. He was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning.
The man was charged with breaking and entering to commit theft, theft of a motor vehicle, theft over $5,000, mischief under $5,000, fraudulent use of a credit card, driving while disqualified and two counts of possessing property obtained by crime.

2 MISSING AFTER TRUCK GOES THROUGH ICE
WINNIPEG — Two people are presumed dead after a pickup truck went through the ice on Cedar Lake.
Grand Rapids RCMP were called about the incident at about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.
The truck broke through the ice about 75 metres from shore.
Tracks were seen leading from the boat ramp onto the ice. The RCMP underwater recovery team was sent to the area Tuesday morning and found the truck Wednesday afternoon. The two occupants — the male driver and female passenger — were not inside, Manitoba RCMP said in a news release Wednesday.
The search for the two victims continues.
