The suspect fled before police got to the scene, BPS said in a news release. However, police said they found that the man was under a 24-hour curfew and on a condition not to be in the city of Brandon.
Police received another call at around 11:30 p.m. and were told that the suspect was outside of a residence on Cornell Bay, the release said.
BPS deployed its police dog unit, and, with help from a drone, arrested the suspect on the 300 block of Aberdeen Avenue, police said.
The man had a small axe in his possession during his arrest, BPS said.
The 36-year-old man was charged with several offences, including breaking and entering, uttering threats, resisting arrest and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Uttering threats with knife
A man who allegedly threatened his neighbour while armed with a knife was arrested on Saturday.
The Brandon Police Service received a report that a man was clearing snow at a house on Frederick Street when a neighbour came outside and threatened him with a knife.
Officers obtained a statement and arrested a 43-year-old man. He was charged with uttering threats and possessing a weapon before he was released on an undertaking with a court date scheduled in March.
Work vehicle theft
The Brandon Police Service arrested a woman on Thursday after a business reported that one of its work vehicles had been stolen.
An employee at the business on the 1600 block of Byng Avenue reported at around 7:30 a.m. that the vehicle had been stolen from their job site.
The vehicle was later found abandoned.
Police deployed their K-9 unit, which led them to a nearby residence, BPS said in a news release.
Police arrested an 18-year-old woman and charged her with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime. She was held at BPS until her court appearance.
