SUSPECT SOUGHT IN BUSINESS BREAK-IN

The Brandon Police Service is investigating a Thursday evening break-in at a downtown business.

Police received a report at around 7:20 p.m. of a person inside a business in the first block of 10th Street. The caller saw the unknown person on security footage when no one was supposed to be inside the business, BPS said in a news release Friday.

Police set up a perimeter and searched inside the business. Officers also used a drone to search outside the business.

BPS did not find the suspect and is asking anyone with information about the break and enter to contact its non-emergency line at 204-729-2346 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 204-727-TIPS (8477).

NDP MLA HAS ‘HEALTH COMPLICATIONS’

WINNIPEG — The Manitoba NDP caucus says MLA Amanda Lathlin “is currently experiencing health complications.”

A statement Friday morning from NDP caucus chairman Robert Loiselle said the caucus “stands with Amanda and is holding her and her family in our thoughts as she takes the time to deal with these concerns.”

It said The Pas-Kameesack member’s constituency office remains open and Lathlin’s staff continue to support constituents. It asked he public to respect her privacy.
