A person was airlifted to a Winnipeg hospital Saturday afternoon following a ski-related incident near Russell, STARS Air Ambulance told the Sun.
STARS spokesperson Kate Langille confirmed that the patient was flown by STARS to the Health Sciences Centre, but declined to provide further details.
A social media post from Marion MacKay, who said she witnessed emergency activity at the scene, described seeing responders attending to a patient, with “nurses coming and going.”
“One young man with a sore back was taken down our side after X-rays,” MacKay said in her post.
The information has not been verified by officials.
Russell is home to Asessippi Ski Area & Resort, a popular winter destination in western Manitoba.
No one from the Municipality of Russell Binscarth or the resort was available for comment.
