Manitoba’s Progressive Conservative party has nominated another Westman MLA to run in the next provincial election.

On Thursday, the Tories announced the acclamation of Agassiz MLA Jodie Byram along with party leader and Fort Whyte MLA Obby Khan and Lac du Bonnet MLA Wayne Ewasko.

As well, Portage la Prairie MLA Jeff Bereza was nominated for his riding on Friday, the Tories said.

Westman MLAs Greg Nesbitt (Riding Mountain) and Colleen Robbins (Spruce Woods) were nominated earlier this week.

Previously, the party nominated Trevor King (Lakeside), Josh Guenter (Borderland), Lauren Stone (Midland), Derek Johnson (Interlake-Gimli), Konrad Narth (La Vérendrye) and Kathleen Cook (Roblin).

One MLA has also left the party and four others said they would not seek re-election at the end of their terms.

Dawson Trail MLA Bob Lagassé quit caucus on Tuesday to sit as an independent.

The MLAs not running in the next election include Doyle Piwniuk (Turtle Mountain), Kelvin Goertzen (Steinbach), Ron Schuler (Springfield-Ritchot) and Richard Perchotte (Selkirk).

The next provincial election is scheduled for October 2027.
