The Brandon Police Service is asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect in a sexual assault early Saturday morning.

The sexual assault took place in the area around the 500 to 700 block of 20th Street south of Victoria Avenue, BPS said in a news release on Tuesday.

Police described the suspect as a tall man who was wearing all black clothing and a black ski mask.

He approached a woman from behind, forced her against a wall and assaulted her, police said. The woman resisted and escaped without physical injury.

The suspect immediately left the area.

Police are interested in speaking with anyone who may have information that could help with their investigation.

Anyone who was in the area described between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Saturday, saw or heard anything unusual in the area, has information about someone who matches the suspect’s description or has relevant video footage should contact BPS at 204-729-2345 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 204-727-TIPS (8477).

“Any information, no matter how minor it may seem, could be valuable to the investigation,” the release said.
