Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. Daly House in partnership with the Brandon Embroiderers presents “The Art of Embroidery: Past and Present,” an exhibit featuring more than 100 embroidery pieces dating from the 1800s to the present. Exhibit is on display until May 20. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Admission: $7 adults; $6 seniors and youth (6-18); family (up to two adults and three children), $13; children under five, free. Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first since 1907. The AGSM boasts two exhibition spaces, an art school and gift shop that supports more than 70 local Manitoba artists. In the Main Gallery is “The Performance of Being,” a retrospective of work by Canadian artist Leesa Streifler on until Saturday. In the Kayes Family Community Gallery are two exhibitions on until June 6, the “Tears of Truth,” bead curtain project created by Brandon area students and community members; and “Reconciliation, Resilience and Red,” by Justina McKay. Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St., Unit 101) — Attractions include the Brandon History Hall, Manitoba Telephone History, the BJ Hales Natural History Collection and rotating exhibits celebrating Brandon’s roots. Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118 Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — Discover “WWII Command Posts,” a temporary exhibit at the RCA Museum, showcasing Canada’s mobile command vehicles and their role in co-ordinating artillery and communications during the Second World War. April 9 — Join Westman Gardeners to hear a presentation on Native Plants by Sherry Punak-Murphy at Central Community Centre (529 Fourth St.) at 7 p.m. Sherry is a biologist, an insect enthusiast and native plant lover. Her passion is educating others in the native species found here in Westman. Her presentation will discuss native flowers and plants suitable for our yards and how they are beneficial to our environment. Guests are welcome to attend for a fee of $5.

April 9 — The United Way Campaign Touchdown will be held at the Ukrainian Reading Association Hall (1005 Assiniboine Ave.) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come celebrate the impact of collective giving and mark the close of the 2025 Brandon/Westman Community Fundraising Campaign. April 11 — The Woodworth Fire Department is fired up to fundraise for a new rescue unit, so come join us at the Kenton Memorial Hall for supper, silent auction and entertainment. April 17-19 — Brandon Troyanda School of Ukrainian Dance presents the Biennial Dance Festival and Competition 2026 at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. April 18 — 26 Field Regiment/XII Manitoba Dragoons Museum (1116 Victoria Ave.) is hosting its annual Vimy and Beyond Dinner. This year’s theme is Women, War and Change and features Chinese food buffet, live auction, musical guests, raffles and 50/50. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person. April 18 — The United Way presents Brandon’s Largest Garage Sale Spring Edition in the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

April 18 — The Glenboro Ag Society is pleased to be hosting their second annual Meat Smoking Competition “Smoke Your Face Off II,” at the Glenboro Community Hall. Doors open at 5 p.m. and food is aiming to be served at 6 p.m. and finishing up at 7:30 p.m. This is a publicly judged event and the winner of each category will get a prize and bragging rights. There will be a bar accepting cash and credit, Minors allowed but anyone purchasing alcohol will be ID’d. Tickets are $25. This event is to help fundraise for our Animal Husbandry Scholarship which is presented to a graduate of Glenboro School every year.
