BRANDON UNIVERSITY

The academic year is drawing to a close, with final exams beginning this week and continuing until April 25. For some students, these exams are their final step before convocation ceremonies, which will take place May 28 and May 29.

Students will share their research in two events on today. From 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., 25 upper-year undergraduate students will participate in the Senior Colloquium, in the Louis Riel Room next to Harvest Hall. Their research covers a wide range of topics, including science, politics, history, art and society. Meanwhile, students in the Master of Science (Environmental and Life Sciences) program will present their work from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Room 4-47 of the Brodie Science Centre. The day will feature nine students presenting on topics such as agriculture, ecology and molecular biology.

The Western Manitoba Science Fair will take place on Tuesday at BU’s Healthy Living Centre. Public viewing will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. The award ceremonies will begin at 4:30 p.m. for Grades 1-4, and at 6:30 p.m. for Grades 5-12.

“Back to the Process,” a bachelor of fine art thesis exhibition by Haylee Janai, is on exhibition this week at the Glen P. Sutherland Gallery of Art. Janai’s sculptures focus on the potential obsolescence of the human hand in an increasingly digital culture. The gallery hours are from 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free.

The final round of the Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition in Voice will take place from Friday to Sunday at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. Six finalists from across Canada compete for a first prize consisting of a $6,000 cash award and a cross-Canada recital tour. For details visit E-gre.ca.
