Break and enter

Police arrested a man after receiving a report of a break and enter on Saturday.

A resident from the 300 block of Dennis Street reported a break and enter that had just happened at an apartment, the Brandon Police Service said in a news release.

The caller told police the suspect assaulted someone once inside and said the victim knew the suspect, police said.

When officers arrived, the suspect was still inside, BPS said.

Officers arrested a 24-year-old man and found out that he was under a court order not to have contact with the victim, police said.

He was charged with breaking and entering with assault and failing to comply with a court order.

Police found and arrested the 21-year-old suspect. He was charged with assault, assault by choking and assault by suffocating.

BPS later released the man on an undertaking, and he is scheduled to appear in court in June.
