DROVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC

Police arrested a Waywayseecappo First Nation man after he allegedly drove into oncoming traffic while impaired on Sunday.

Officers from the Manitoba First Nations Police Service’s Waywayseecappo detachment saw a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 45 against oncoming traffic and straight toward the police cruiser at around 7:30 p.m., MFNPS said in a news release on Wednesday.

Police stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver, who appeared to be intoxicated by alcohol, the release said.

The man became aggressive and unco-operative after he was transported to the office for processing, MFNPS said.

He allegedly headbutted an officer and uttered threats to kill.

Police said the officer was injured but didn’t need medical attention, and the suspect continued to be aggressive while in custody.

Brenton Ledoux, 29, was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assault on a police officer and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

Ledoux was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

SEARCH FOR STOLEN TRUCK

WINNIPEG — RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman they said may have information about the recent theft of a truck, flatbed trailer and forklift near Carman.

The theft was reported on Sunday afternoon and RCMP say it’s believed to have happened earlier that day at around 4 a.m., said a Wednesday RCMP release.

Mounties said it’s believed the suspect, or suspects, had gained access to the truck, a 2019 Ford F-550, that was parked behind an area business on Fourth Avenue SE and then drove it away. The trailer and the forklift were located the next day in La Salle, but the truck is still missing.

Alongside an image of the truck, RCMP have now released a photo of a woman who they say was walking in the parking lot near the truck just before the theft. They said she was wearing a red hoodie, a long black parka, black leggings and a baseball hat, alongside white Adidas shoes with a black strip.
