Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. Daly House in partnership with the Brandon Embroiderers presents “The Art of Embroidery: Past and Present,” an exhibit featuring more than 100 embroidery pieces dating from the 1800s to the present. • Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Free admission. Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first since 1907. The Brandon Kiwanis Club has a contractual arrangement with the Brandon Police Service to sell bicycles that they recover. People can reclaim their bicycle if they can provide proof that it was stolen from them; usually a picture and a serial number is all that is required. We also obtain and sell donated bicycles. Auction starts at 10 a.m. with viewing at 9 a.m. All sales are final. All proceeds from the sale are used for community projects.

• April 26 — The Arts West Council and the Killarney Turtle Mountain Arts Council are proud to present the 47th annual Westman Juried Art Show at the United Church C.E. Centre Hall (430 Williams Ave.. Killarney). The show features the work of Westman Region adult and youth artists. Jurors will select 20 pieces for the Travelling Gallery, which will tour communities in the Westman region for the next year. • April 26 — Westman Jams gathers on the last Sunday of each month to play classic country music at The Fringe Restaurant and Lounge on Cove Road in Shilo from 2 to 5 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome. Entrance to CFB Shilo is now through the north gate only and valid identification is required to enter the base. We accept donations to the Reg Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund to help send Westman students to the International Music Camp at the International Peace Garden. • April 29-May 1 — The Mental Health on the Prairies Hybrid Conference and Community Conversation, hosted by the Centre for Critical Studies of Rural Mental Health (CCSRMH) will be held over three days at Brandon University. This conference brings together researchers, health professionals, educators, community groups and organizations, mental health advocates and individuals with lived experience from across the country to share knowledge and have critical conversations about mental health. Keynote speakers: Rebeccah Love, Russell Purdy and Dr. Caroline Tait. On offer is also a citizens forum, a knowledge sharing guest panel and a solid variety of mental health focused concurrent sessions arranged over the three days. • April 30 — The Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba’s 2026 annual Art Auction and Gala Dinner will be held in the Main Gallery. Following the success of last year’s Art Battle, in which members of the community went head-to-head creating original art in support the AGSM’s programming, this year’s theme is Minimalism versus Maximalism.
