Final exams for the winter term wrap up this week. Spring term courses begin next week, with classes starting on May 4. For those students who are finishing their programs this term, convocation ceremonies will take place on May 28 and May 29.

Teachings and stories from the land will be the topic for an Earth Day themed BU Teachings House on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Health Studies building’s He Oyate Tawapi Ceremony Room. The discussion will reflect the importance of living in connection with the land and waterways, recognizing that when the land thrives, we thrive. Everyone is welcome.

Brandon University is a partner for the Mayor’s Book Club, taking place on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brandon Public Library at 710 Rosser Ave. Mayor Jeff Fawcett and BU prof Gautam Srivastava will lead a discussion about artificial intelligence, based on the book Empire of AI by Karen Hao. World-renowned violinist James Ehnes returns to Brandon on May 7 for a recital, accompanied by Andrew Armstrong on piano. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. Tickets are $60 and are selling fast for this intimate performance. Following the recital, a champagne reception will take place as a fundraiser for BU’s Ehnes Scholarships in Violin and Trumpet. The cost of the reception is $40, which includes a $22 charitable tax receipt. Reserve tickets for the recital or the reception by calling 204-727-7438 or emailing McMasterT@BrandonU.ca
