Cocaine found

A man was arrested after police found baggies of cocaine in his apartment during a compliance check on Sunday, Brandon police say.

Officers with the Brandon Police Service went to an apartment on the 600 block of Ninth Street to check on a man who was under several court-ordered conditions.

One of the conditions allows police to search him, his vehicle or his residence up to three times per month, BPS said in a news release.

Police found “several” grams of cocaine separated into baggies, a scale, a cellphone and $5,900 in cash in the apartment, police said.

Police arrested the man and charged him with possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possessing proceeds of crime and several non-compliance charges.

The 40-year-old man was held in BPS detention cells and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Woman punched

The Brandon Police Service arrested a man on Sunday after he allegedly punched a woman.

Police responded at around 5 a.m. to a 911 call regarding an assault at an apartment on the 300 block of Princess Avenue, where a man allegedly pushed and punched a woman, BPS told the Sun in an email on Monday.

Officers found the suspect in the area and arrested him, BPS said in a news release.

The 21-year-old man was charged with assault and was held in BPS detention cells due to his level of intoxication, police said.

BPS said he would later be released on an undertaking with a court appearance scheduled in July.

Assault and mischief

Brandon police arrested a woman on Friday after she allegedly assaulted a man several times.

BPS officers were sent to a residence on the 1400 block of Seventh Street to respond to a disturbance just after 8 p.m.

Police learned that a woman had assaulted a man in the residence multiple times and had broken his phone a couple days before, BPS said in a news release.

Officers arrested a 25-year-old woman and charged her with assault and mischief to property under $5,000.

She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in June.
