Police arrested a Brandon youth after he allegedly assaulted a boy at a skate park on Tuesday night.

The Brandon Police Service received a report at around 8 p.m. regarding an assault at Kristopher Campbell Memorial Skate Plaza on the 900 block of Princess Avenue.

A boy arrived at the skate park in a vehicle, got out and assaulted a 14-year-old boy by punching and kicking him several times before leaving, BPS said in the news release.

Police said the victim declined medical attention.

BPS identified the suspect as a 16-year-old Brandon resident.

Police contacted him, along with a parent, and he surrendered at BPS headquarters.

Police charged the suspect with assault and released him on an undertaking.

He is scheduled to appear in court in June.
