A woman who was allegedly trying to fight people while armed with a knife was arrested Wednesday night.
The Brandon Police Service received a report of the disturbance at around 10:30 p.m. and subsequently found a woman in the 800 block of Queens Avenue.
Police said they found a large hunting knife in her pant leg.
The 31-year-old woman was arrested and charged with possessing a weapon.
BPS held her in detention cells with the intention of releasing her on an undertaking once sober.
ASSAULT AT HOTEL
A woman faces several charges, including assault with a weapon, after an incident at a Brandon hotel on Wednesday night.
Officers with the Brandon Police Service were sent to a hotel on the 800 block of Pacific Avenue at around 11:42 p.m. after receiving a report of a woman causing a disturbance.
Police found a woman standing in the doorway of one of the hotel rooms holding a closed folding knife, BPS said in a news release.
Inside the room, police found a man whose leg was injured below the knee, but he denied emergency medical services and didn’t want to press charges, BPS said.
Police arrested a 31-year-old woman and found she was on conditions that prohibited her from being in contact with the man at the scene or attending the hotel, BPS said.
BPS charged the woman with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon, failure to comply with a release order and failure to comply with probation.
She was held in BPS detention cells overnight and was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
DISARMING OFFICER
A woman was arrested after she allegedly tried to grab an RCMP officer’s gun in the Rural Municipality of Mossey River on Sunday.
Winnipegosis RCMP responded to a disturbance at around 11:30 a.m., and when officers arrived at the residence, they saw a vehicle with all its windows smashed, RCMP said in a news release Wednesday.
Police also heard a “commotion” inside, including the sound of breaking glass, police said.
When officers entered the residence, they found a man and woman. Police arrested the man and took him into custody.
As officers were trying to leave the residence with the man, the woman pushed the door into two officers, went outside and tried to grab at an officer’s gun, police said.
When officers arrested the woman, she resisted, the release said.
The 32-year-old woman faces several charges, including disarming a police officer, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
The 36-year-old man faces charges of assault and mischief over $5,000.
Both were released from custody on conditions.
