• 1 p.m. — The City of Brandon’s Downtown Spring Community Cleanup Day. Calling all community volunteers to help clean up our downtown. Rain or shine. • 5 p.m. — The Brandon Chamber of Commerce’s 143rd Awards Gala will be held in the UCT Pavilion and the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre at 5 p.m. Join us for an evening celebrating the strength, adaptability and success of Brandon’s business community. • 7:30 p.m. — The Brandon University School of Music welcomes international superstar violinist James Ehnes as he returns to his hometown for a special recital at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. • Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. Daly House in partnership with the Brandon Embroiderers presents “The Art of Embroidery: Past and Present,” an exhibit featuring more than 100 embroidery pieces dating from the 1800s to the present. • May 24 — Westman Dreams for Kids Children’s Country Fair will take place on the Keystone Centre grounds (Clara tent and surrounding area) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy a day of activities including: bouncy castles and inflatables, face decorating, petting zoo, crafts and games, horse and wagon rides and much, much more. A cash-only canteen will also be serving delicious snacks and treats throughout the day. No admission fee.

• May 29 — Bethel Temple is turning 100 and we are celebrating the only way we know how: by throwing the biggest FREE community party of the year at the Riverbank Discovery Centre (545 Conservation Dr.) Join us for a concert from Juno-nominated collect.assembly; bouncy castles for families; amazing food for only $3; and a night built around connection, celebration and hope.
