The man was hiding in the store after he allegedly inappropriately grabbed a woman at another spot inside the business, BPS said in a news release.
Police arrested a 21-year-old man and charged him with sexual assault. He was held in custody overnight, and was to be released on an undertaking later that morning.
He is scheduled to appear in court in August.
Threats to parents
A man accused of threatening his parents while armed with an axe was arrested on Saturday afternoon.
The Brandon Police Service received a report that a man had “confronted his parents with an axe” during an argument over rent money at around 3:30 p.m., BPS said in a news release.
The man allegedly pushed his mother, hit a coffee table multiple times with the axe and threatened his parents, police said.
Officers found and arrested a 23-year-old man in the 1600 block of McTavish Avenue and brought him to BPS detention cells, where he was held overnight.
Assault with weapon
A man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly assaulted another man.
The Brandon Police Serviced received a report of an assault in the first block of 10th Street at around 11:20 a.m.
The caller said a man had assaulted another man, and they believed he was holding a knife, BPS said in a news release.
The caller described the suspect to police and officers arrested a 31-year-old man, who matched the description, in the area, police said.
BPS said the witness positively identified the man through a photo, and police charged the suspect with assault with a weapon.
Police held him in detention cells overnight, with the intention of releasing him on an undertaking with a future court date once sober.
Unlawfully in house
Police arrested a woman after finding her in a Brandon home and debunking her claim that she was working for a cleaning company and there for “housekeeping purposes,” the Brandon Police Service said.
BPS arrested the 38-year-old woman and charged her with being unlawfully in a dwelling house.
Police went to a residence in the 300 block of 16th Street at around 2:11 a.m. after the home’s security alarm went off, BPS said in a news release.
Officers found the suspect inside, and the homeowner later confirmed that no one had permission to be in the residence and they did not hire a cleaner.
The accused couldn’t provide the home’s address to police or the names of the homeowners.
The woman was held in BPS detention cells overnight, and police said she would be released on an undertaking once sober.
She is scheduled to appear in court in August.
Domestic assault
Brandon police arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted his partner early Saturday morning.
A woman called the Brandon Police Service and reported that her common-law partner had assaulted her. Officers responded to the 600 block of Douglas Street at around 1:50 a.m., BPS said in a news release.
Police arrested a 36-year-old man and charged him with assault. He was held in BPS detention cells overnight and released on an undertaking the next morning.
He is scheduled to appear in Dauphin court in July.
