The City of Brandon’s only outdoor pool opens today for the summer season — more than a month earlier than last year.
The Kinsmen Pool, located at 411 Park St., remained closed last year until July 23 due to underground pipe repairs.
“Happily, those repairs were good enough to last us through, and we did not have any delays in opening this year,” Heather Reimer, the city’s acting director of Parks and Recreation Services, said Thursday.
The pool’s hours of operation, as well as admission fees, are listed on the City of Brandon website at brandon.ca.
Lap swim will open to the public at 11 a.m. today with a drop-in fee, or with the purchase of a “10-Swim Punch Card,” available at the pool.
Children under seven years of age must be accompanied by a caregiver aged at least 13 or older.
The pool will be closed daily from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for maintenance.
Public swim times will vary by day and month, with afternoon and evening options available throughout the season.
“If people are wanting to have a better look at the schedule, we would certainly encourage them to check it out on our website,” Reimer said.
“I would suggest just typing ‘outdoor water’ into the search bar (on brandon.ca) to get there quickest, or they can certainly follow along for updates on our social medias as well: City of Brandon Parks and Recreation Services.”
The Kinsmen Pool will be open until Aug. 30, the city said.
