The Chan Kagha Otina Dakota Wayawa Tipi School hosted its annual end-of-year powwow at Birdtail Sioux Dakota Nation on Wednesday.
The school has about 210 students from nursery school up to adult education.
Principal Delonna Pratt said the annual powwow is “a celebration of the school year and coincides with the upcoming summer solstice.” She added: “In Dakota culture, there is a lot of connection to the Earth, so we make sure to give our thanks to Creator every day for what we have.”
