Brandon police arrested a man early Wednesday morning after an alleged domestic assault.

Shortly after midnight, members of the Brandon Police Service went to a home on the 1500 block of Third Street in response to a 911 call, in which someone was screaming in the background, BPS said in a news release Wednesday.

Officers found a 35-year-old woman with a swollen arm at the home, police said.

She told police her boyfriend assaulted her but had since left.

Police said officers found a 36-year-old man down the block and arrested him. He was transported to Brandon Regional Health Centre because of a “medical concern” and released from the hospital on an undertaking, police said.

Police charged the man with assault, and he is scheduled to appear in court in August.
