Man charged with assault
A man who allegedly assaulted a woman on the street in Brandon was arrested on Sunday.
The Brandon Police Service received a report of an assault in the 1100 block of Louise Avenue shortly before noon, BPS said in a news release.
A man had punched a woman and kicked her while she was on the ground, BPS said. Police said video surveillance from the area captured the assault.
Officers arrested a 46-year-old man nearby and charged him with assault.
He was held in BPS detention cells overnight for his court appearance on Monday.

Teens arrested
Police arrested two teens who accused each other of assault on Friday.
Brandon Police Service officers responded to a call to remove an unwanted woman from a home on the 1400 block of Third Street at around 11 a.m.
When police arrived, an 18-year-old woman and 19-year-old man each said the other had assaulted them, BPS said in a news release. Neither of them required medical attention, police said.
Officers arrested and charged both of them with assault. They were released from custody and will appear in court on a future date.
Woman hit in the face
Brandon police arrested a man on Friday after he allegedly assaulted a woman.
The Brandon Police Service received a report of an assault at an apartment on the 1500 block of 26th Street shortly after 10 p.m.
The woman was “struck” in the face but did not need medical attention, BPS said in a news release.
Police arrested a 54-year-old man and charged him with assault. He was released on an undertaking with a court appearance scheduled in August.
