The Conservative Party has re-assigned Riding Mountain MP Dan Mazier to a new critic role.
Tory Leader Pierre Poilievre shuffled his shadow cabinet on Tuesday, moving Mazier to the role of critic for government transformation, public services and procurement.
Mazier, a former farmer, had been the health critic for the past year. Fellow Manitoba MP for Kildonan-St. Paul, Raquel Dancho, has been appointed the new health critic.
“It is an honour to take on the role of shadow minister for government transformation, public services and procurement,” Mazier said in a press release Tuesday afternoon.
“After 10 years of this Liberal government, Canadians have lost faith in their federal government spending money responsibly. I will hold this government to account and ensure the federal government procurement process is performed faithfully, with respect for taxpayers’ dollars at the forefront.”
Mazier’s parliamentary assistant told the Sun that the MP would not be available for an interview Tuesday afternoon.
As health critic, Mazier introduced a bill that could see supervised drug consumption sites limited to areas that are not frequented by children.
The bill was given first reading in March and has not yet progressed to second reading.
He has also highlighted the shortfalls of PrescribeIT, and called on the auditor general to probe the governing Liberals over the cost and results of the program.
Poilievre, in a separate press release, said the new cabinet will focus on affordability.
