Brandon police arrested suspects on Wednesday in two unrelated assaults.
The first arrest came after a woman told police her ex-boyfriend had assaulted her during an argument.
A 27-year-old woman went to Brandon Police Service headquarters on July 8 and told police she and her ex-boyfriend were having an argument about their relationship and finances when he allegedly slapped her in the face several times, BPS said in a news release.
She also told police he grabbed her arm and threw her to the ground, BPS said.
On Wednesday, police found the 27-year-old man and arrested him. He was charged with assault and subsequently released on an undertaking with a court date scheduled in September.
Police also arrested a man on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
BPS members responded to a home on the 1200 block of Sycamore Drive shortly after 10 a.m. after receiving a report of a disturbance.
A man had reportedly kicked his 51-year-old girlfriend in the back of her head and choked her, BPS said in a news release.
Police arrested the 49-year-old man at the home and charged him with assault and assault by choking.
Officers took him to BPS detention cells, and he was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
