CAUSING DISTURBANCES
The Brandon Police Service were called to three separate incidents over a 24-hour period involving people causing disturbances, BPS said in a news release Wednesday.
In the first incident, family members contacted police about an intoxicated 21-year-old woman who allegedly tried to physically fight her mother at a residence on Fourth Street between Rosser and Princess Avenues.
The second incident occurred at a hotel on Victoria Avenue near Clement Drive. Security contacted police about an intoxicated man who had allegedly been following three women as they walked back to the hotel from a store located several blocks away.
The man tried to enter the hotel despite not being a guest, police said, adding that he became argumentative with staff and made racist comments.
The third incident involved a 20-year-old woman who was panhandling and allegedly refused to leave a business on 10th Street between Van Horne and McTavish avenues.
Police said the woman had been swearing at customers.
All three individuals were arrested and and charged with breach of peace.
They were taken to the BPS detention cells “to allow the situations to de-escalate” and for the behaviour to stop, police said.
The three were released once they were sober, calm and able to care for themselves, the release said.
NO-CONTACT ORDER VIOLATION
Brandon police charged a 21-year-old man with failure to comply with conditions of a release order on Tuesday.
The man allegedly violated a no-contact order that he had with an 18-year-old woman. Police said the man and woman had exchanged 51 phone calls and 10 text messages within an approximate three-week period.
The man was arrested and was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
