TOWN CENTRE INCIDENT

A 37-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police say he pushed security staff at The Town Centre and pulled out a pocketknife before fleeing on foot.

Police recieved a report involving a man causing a disturbance at the downtown shopping centre around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers said the man argued with security personnel, shoved them and then brought out the pocketknife. He left the area, but was quickly arrested by police at a nearby park.

He was charged with assault, uttering threats, possessing a weapon and failing to comply with conditions of a release order.

The man was held in custody before he was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning.

ASSAULT ON MOTHER

Brandon police have charged a 35-year-old man for allegedly assaulting his mother on Wednesday.

Officers were called to an apartment on Lorne Avenue between First and Second streets just after 8 a.m., police said in a news release on Thursday.

Police said the woman did not require medical treatment.

The man was arrested at the scene and charged with assault. He was later released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 1.
