The Manitoba NDP is expected to announce its candidate for Brandon West on Aug. 6.
The party is holding its nomination meeting at Harvest Hall at Brandon University that evening.
The chosen candidate will represent the party in the riding in the next provincial election, to be held no later than Oct. 5, 2027.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., a party spokesperson said. It is open to NDP members only, but people are able to purchase a membership at the door if they wish to attend.
In April, the Progressive Conservatives confirmed incumbent Wayne Balcaen, a former Brandon Police Service chief, will be running for a second term.
Balcaen narrowly won the seat in 2023, defeating NDP candidate Quentin Robinson by 89 votes.
