A 32-year-old man was charged with violating his probation order to abstain from alcohol after Mounties say he was driving impaired while speeding last week.
Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP pulled over a truck that was travelling 149 kilometres an hour in a 100 km/h zone on Highway 68 around 8 p.m. on July 28, police said in a news release on Tuesday.
Officers asked the driver, who lives in the rural municipality of St. Andrews, to complete a breathalyzer, and he failed twice, the release said.
Police said the driver has a court order prohibiting him from consuming alcohol.
Officers conducted a search and found unstamped tobacco inside the truck.
The man had his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days after he was issued a three-day licence suspension last month for a similar offence, RCMP said.
He also received nearly $3,285 in tickets, including $692 for speeding, $2,542 for possessing unmarked tobacco and fees to have his vehicle towed and impounded for the next 30 days.
RCMP said he was released on a notice to appear in court.
