A 42-year-old man allegedly punched his son in the face after the teen wouldn’t let him pawn some of his video games to get money for drugs, police said.
Police said the man was arrested and later released after the victim and his mother refused to co-operate with the investigation or pursue charges.
Choking incident
A 41-year-old man was charged with assault by choking following an incident involving his wife on Monday.
Brandon police responded to a 911 call of a domestic assault at a home on the 200 block on 26th Street before 8 p.m. The man allegedly grabbed a 40-year-old woman by the face and neck during an argument and choked her, police said.
The woman had red marks around her neck and cheeks.
The man was arrested and held in custody. He was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning.
Domestic assault
A man faces charges of assault and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking after an incident on Tuesday, police said.
Around 1:30 a.m., Brandon police responded to a report of a domestic assault involving a man who was allegedly attacking his former partner by kicking and punching her in the head.
Police arrived at a residence and found the victim, who was bleeding, police said.
The suspect fled before police arrived, but officers located and arrested him nearby.
Police learned the man had a court order prohibiting him from communicating with the woman or being at her residence, following an incident in June.
Theft of meat
Brandon police charged two women with theft under $5,000 on Monday.
At 1 p.m., a business on the 1000 block on Richmond Avenue reported two suspects had stolen $350 worth of meat and fled in a vehicle.
Officers were able to locate the suspects at a home address associated with the vehicle’s licence plate.
The women, ages 55 and 31, were arrested and released, police said. They will appear in court at a later date.
Struck with cane
A 44-year-old man was charged with assault with a weapon after he allegedly struck a man with a cane.
Brandon police received a report from the victim at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The victim told police the assault occurred in the 1300 block on 18th Street. The man had minor injuries from the assault.
The suspect was held in custody and later released on an undertaking.
Suspect arrested
A 21-year-old woman has been charged with assault in connection to an incident from late spring.
On June 4, a woman reported that she had been assaulted by two other women, police said. One of the suspects was identified and arrested on Monday.
Police said the suspect was held in custody as released on an undertaking after she sobered up.
