DOWNTOWN GRAFFITI
A man was arrested for allegedly spray-painting graffiti in downtown Brandon on Tuesday evening.
A police officer sent to an unrelated call observed a man spray-painting on Rosser Avenue between 12th and 13th streets shortly before 9 p.m., police said in a news release Wednesday
The man was arrested and charged with mischief to property under $5,000, police said on Wednesday.
He was released on a notice to appear in court on Oct. 5.
BOX CUTTER AND AMMUNITION
A man is facing charges for breaching his probation after police say he was found in possession of a weapon and ammunition on Tuesday evening.
Around 9:30 p.m., security at a building on the 200 block of 18th Street reported a man on the property who was not permitted to be there.
When security approached the man, he pulled out a bladed weapon, police said. Security called police, who later located the suspect.
A 43-year-old man was allegedly found to be in possession of a box-cutter knife, loose ammunition, two butane torches and a new soldering kit, police said.
Police said the man was violating conditions of his probation.
He was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon, two counts of possession of ammunition contrary to his probation and breach of an undertaking related to his curfew.
He was scheduled to appear in a Brandon court on Wednesday. He was also scheduled to have a court appearance in Moose Jaw, Sask., on Wednesday, police said.
WEAPONS POSSESSION
Brandon police charged two men with weapons offences after a physical fight broke out between them in a busy intersection on Tuesday evening.
Officers were called to the scene around 10 p.m. for a report of two men throwing punches at Ninth Street and Victoria Avenue, police said on Wednesday.
When police arrived, both men had stopped fighting. A 32-year-old man was out of breath and had a knife concealed in his waistband, police said.
The other man, 38, was holding a knife in his hand, police said.
Neither of the men wished to press charges for assault.
Police said there was an outstanding warrant for the 32-year-old man. He faces charges including possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and breaching his probation.
He was scheduled to attend court on Wednesday.
The 38-year-old man was charged with possession of a weapon and was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
DROVE VEHICLE WITHOUT CONSENT
A woman has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent in connection to an incident on Monday, police said.
The woman allegedly stole the keys to a person’s vehicle without them knowing.
On Tuesday before 3 p.m., police were pulling someone over in a separate incident in the 1000 block of First Street when the woman approached them.
Officers allege the woman, who is known to police, started yelling at them.
She was arrested and released on an undertaking once sober. She has a future court date set for Oct. 26.
