Assault with weapons
Brandon police arrested a man Thursday evening for allegedly assaulting a woman with a box cutter and a hammer.
Police officers were called to an apartment on the 100 block of First Street before 7 p.m. and spoke with a 28-year-old woman who was standing outside with an infant.

The woman’s injuries included cuts to her neck and bruising on her arm, and were non-life-threatening, police said in a news release on Friday.
The woman refused to be taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
At the scene, police saw a man standing in the apartment doorway holding a hammer, the release said, adding that he repeatedly retreated back inside and appeared agitated while making threats toward police.
Police called Brandon Fire & Emergency Services after they detected a burning smell coming from the apartment. It was later identified as someone smudging sage, so firefighters stood down, police said.
The suspect exited the apartment and was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of possessing a weapon, uttering threats, resisting arrest and mischief under $5,000.
The man is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 28.
Flight from police
A motorcycle driver has been charged after he was allegedly caught driving without a motorcycle licence and fled police.
Brandon police officers saw the driver speeding north on 34th Street before turning onto Centennial Boulevard on Friday around 2 a.m.
Officers activated their emergency lights and alleged the suspect looked at police, but continued driving for about a block and a half before pulling into a residence and riding directly into the backyard.
Police said they stopped the 50-year-old driver before he entered his home. An investigation revealed the man did not hold a valid Class 6 motorcycle licence.
He failed an approved screening device test, and his motorcycle was impounded for 90 days.
The man was ticketed for driving without a valid licence, driving without liability insurance and operating an unregistered vehicle.
Stolen bikes
Brandon police have arrested two men for allegedly stealing a bike from a restaurant on Wednesday evening.
Officers received a report of a missing bike in the 200 block of 18th Street North around 9 p.m., police said Friday.
The following morning, the complainant told police an Apple AirTag attached to the bike indicated it was at a residence on the 300 block of Cornwallis Crescent. Police went to the residence and found the bike was in the possession of two men, along with two additional bikes.
The men, ages 31 and 49, were charged with possession of property obtained by crime.
They were taken into custody, released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 9.
