THEFT CHARGES
Brandon police arrested a woman on Thursday morning in connection with a report of two separate thefts.
The suspect was an occupant in a vehicle that was pulled over by police at about 11:30 p.m. in the 100 block of 26th Street.
A 38-year-old woman was taken into custody and charged with two counts of theft under $5,000, police said in a news release on Friday.
The woman was scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning.
ROBBED AT KNIFEPOINT
A 21-year-old man was robbed at knifepoint in Brandon early Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. in the 2700 block of Victoria Avenue.
The robber stole the man’s wallet and vape but discarded the wallet after realizing no money was inside, police said.
Police continue to investigate.
DOMESTIC ASSAULT
A man has been charged with assault after Brandon police were called to an apartment about a domestic dispute early Friday morning.
Officers went to the 200 block of Fifth Street around 3 a.m. and saw a 24-year-old woman with a bloody nose. Police said the woman had been in a fight with her boyfriend, but would not co-operate with officers at the time.
A 27-year-old man was arrested and was scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning, police said.
DOUBLE THE LIMIT
A 35-year-old woman was arrested for driving with a blood-alcohol concentration of more than double the legal limit on Friday.
Police pulled the woman over around 4 a.m. in the 2000 block of Queens Avenue after they noticed signs of impairment, police said.
The woman gave two breath samples that showed a reading of 0.17 per cent and 0.18 per cent.
Police said the woman is currently suspended and can only operate a vehicle with ignition interlock.
She was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired and operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding 0.08 per cent, police said.
The woman was released on a notice to appear in court on Sept. 10.
STOLEN CABLE
A man has been arrested after a reel of aluminum cable was stolen from a locked compound in Brandon.
Police received a report of theft from an employee at a business on the 800 block of Parker Boulevard around 9:20 a.m. on Thursday.
The employee said someone had broken into the compound between 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 9 a.m. on Thursday and took the cable, valued at about $5,000.
Shortly after making the initial police report, the employee found scrap wire near a tent in the area and phoned police again.
Police went to the scene and arrested a 46-year-old man who was inside the tent.
The man was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and had two unendorsed warrants for his arrest issued by the Virden RCMP.
He was detained in custody and appeared in court on Thursday.
