Assault with dispenser
A 39-year-old man was charged with assault with a weapon after allegedly throwing a napkin dispenser at a customer in a Brandon business.
The incident occurred Sunday shortly before 10 a.m. at a business on the 1200 block of 18th Street, Brandon police said in a news release Monday.
The suspect was also a customer at the business when the alleged assault took place.
Police located suspect nearby and arrested him. He was lodged due to his intoxication level, police said.
The man was released with a Nov. 12 court date.
Cab driver punched
A 20-year-old woman was charged with assault after allegedly punching a Brandon taxi driver while she was a passenger in his car.
The driver reported the incident shortly after 6 a.m. on Sunday, saying it happened in the area of the 2100 block of Louise Avenue.
Police arrested the woman, who was later released with a Nov. 16 court date. An 18-year-old male passenger was also arrested and lodged until sober.
Historic domestic violence
Brandon police arrested a 23-year-old man on Sunday for domestic violence charges dating back to 2024.
Police received the report of historical intimate partner violence on Aug. 31. The suspect was 21 when he allegedly assaulted his partner on two separate occasions, police said in a news release.
The man was charged with assault and assault by choking.
Rock-throwing charge
A 35-year-old woman is accused of throwing a rock through the window of the Brandon provincial courthouse.
Police received a report on Friday morning that the vandalism had occurred sometime overnight.
The act was captured on surveillance video and the suspect was identified.
She was located, arrested and charged with mischief to property under $5,000.
The woman was released on police-imposed conditions with a Nov. 2 court date.
Youth assaulted
A teen was arrested after a father reported on Friday that his 15-year-old daughter had been assaulted by two females at a McDonald’s restaurant.
Police said video surveillance from the restaurant identified the primary suspect.
Police found the 14-year-old suspect at her residence and she was charged with assault. She was later released to her guardian and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 17.
