Attempted stabbing
A man was arrested after he allegedly tried to stab a senior in Brandon on Monday afternoon.
Officers were called to a residence on the 200 block of 15th Street around 4 p.m. for a report of a 76-year-old man who may have been stabbed, police said in a news release on Tuesday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim did not have any stab wounds and reviewed video footage showing the suspect attempt to stab him with a knife and miss, police said.
A 62-year-old man was taken into custody and was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
The man was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
Domestic assault
Brandon police arrested a man on Monday evening for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend with a shoe and head-butting her.
Officers were called to an apartment building on the 300 block of 22nd Street around 7:30 p.m. for a report of a man and a woman who were heard screaming at each other, police said on Tuesday.
Police said the couple began arguing through text messages, which escalated into a physical altercation when they returned home for the evening.
During the incident, the man head-butted the woman, struck her with a shoe and damaged her cellphone, police said.
A 20-year-old man was detained in custody and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and mischief to property under $5,000, police said.
The man was later released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 23.
