STABBING THREAT
A man was arrested after he allegedly threatened to stab a store employee when he was confronted for stealing on Monday, police say.
The man went to a business on the 1600 block of 18th Street and stole merchandise valued at $20, Brandon police said in a news release on Wednesday.
When staff confronted him, he took out a knife and threatened to stab them before riding away on a bicycle with the knife tucked into his sock, police said.
Video footage from the store identified the suspect. Police were unable to locate the man until Tuesday in the 700 block of 10th Street.
A 36-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with robbery, uttering threats and breaching probation.
PETTY THEFTS
A woman has been charged with theft under $5,000 after she allegedly admitted to shoplifting.
Officers saw the woman running from a store on the 900 block of Victoria Avenue around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
When police stopped her, she told them she had stolen from the store, police said.
The woman was arrested and released with a Nov. 26 court date.
Around 3 p.m. the same day, police arrested another woman who was charged with theft under $5,000.
Police said the woman stole two cases of Twisted Teas from a vendor on the first block of 10th Street and was seen handing out the alcoholic drinks to her friends on Ninth Street and Pacific Avenue.
The woman was released from custody with a Nov. 23 court date.
MISCHIEF TO TAXI
A woman was arrested early Wednesday morning in connection to damaging a taxi, police say.
Officers were called to a business in the first block of 10th Street around 2 a.m. for a report of a disturbance involving a taxi driver who was parked outside.
When officers arrived, they saw the driver’s side mirror was damaged and a door handle had been broken off.
Police said a group of people had tried to fight the taxi driver.
Video footage helped identify a suspect.
A 42-year-old woman alleged to be involved was located nearby and arrested. She has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and was released with an Oct. 22 court date.
VENDOR BREAK-IN
Police are asking for public assistance to locate two masked individuals who broke into a hotel beer vendor on Wednesday morning.
Officers were called to the vendor on the 200 block of 18th Street North around 5 a.m. after an employee reported two suspects had smashed the glass of the front door and stole two cases of beer each before fleeing.
Police believe the pair headed south and have requested additional video footage.
