The 14th annual Brandon Beer Tasting Festival is expected to bring breweries and distilleries from across Canada to the Wheat City next month.
The Sunset Rotary Club fundraiser is scheduled for Oct. 3 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Victoria Inn Imperial Ballroom.
The event has raised between $6,000 and $8,000 in previous years, planning committee member Dayle Hughson said.

“The purpose is to raise money so we can give money away to non-profit organizations and charities in Brandon,” she told the Sun.
“This year’s event will feature 13 breweries and distilleries, with tastings included in the $40 ticket price. Attendees will also be served chili and tortilla chips as a late supper during the evening.”
Among the breweries taking part are three local operations: Black Wheat, Section 6 and Trans Canada. Other participating breweries will come from Manitoba as well as Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario and British Columbia.
Hughson said attendees can expect a range of offerings, including flavoured beers and ready-to-drink cocktails in cans, as the festival continues to feature different products.
Advance tickets are available at all four Brandon Liquor Marts, while tickets will also be available at the door.
Hughson encouraged people to purchase their tickets in advance, as advance sales help organizers plan for the number of people expected to attend.
“One of the challenges is getting the tickets out there and getting them sold, and people buying the tickets ahead of time rather than on the day,” she said.
Ticket sales typically start slowly before picking up as the event gets closer and advertising increases, Hughson said. Radio advertising was scheduled to begin this week, alongside newspaper and social media promotion.
The festival has become an annual fundraising event for the Sunset Rotary Club, which encourages local groups seeking financial support for charitable activities to apply for funding.
