Brandon police are asking the public’s help to locate the suspect in a robbery that took place near Southern Avenue and First Street just before midnight on Thursday.
The victim told police he had been robbed after meeting with an unknown male to sell personal items.
During the robbery, the suspect attempted to use bear spray on the victim but “contaminated” himself instead due to the wind blowing it in his direction, police said in a news release Friday.
The suspect fled westbound with the victim’s belt, a Louis Vuitton side bag containing a bank card, and identifcation.
He is described as wearing a black Nike tracksuit and a black ski mask, and is armed with bear spray.
Officers tried to track the suspect, but were unsuccessful.
Police ask anyone with information to contact them at 204-729-2345 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
