Brandon residents hoping to hear from municipal candidates before the Oct. 28 election will have the opportunity during five upcoming debates.
The debates — set for Oct. 14 and 21 for councillor candidates and Oct. 16 for mayoral candidates — will be held at Lorne Watson Recital Hall inside Brandon University.
The public debates are being organized by The Brandon Sun, BU and WCGtv.
The first two debates on Wednesday, Oct. 14 will bring together councillor candidates from Ward 5, Ward 2, Ward 3 and Ward 8.
From 5-7 p.m., Ward 5 candidates and Ward 2 candidates will be on the debate panel MC’ed by Kerry Auriat and from 7-9 p.m., Ward 3 and Ward 8 candidates will take to the panel.
The next debates for councillor candidates will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
From 5-7 p.m., Ward 1, Ward 4 and Ward 9 candidates will discuss their plans for the city.
From 7-9 p.m., Ward 6, Ward 7 and Ward 10 candidates will be in the spotlight.
On Friday, Oct. 16, Mayor Jeff Fawcett and mayoral candidate Len Isleifson will debate on city issues from 6 to 9 p.m.
All debates are open to the public, but no questions will be taken from attendees.
