BUSINESS BREAK-IN

Police are searching for a man who is shown on video footage breaking into a business in Brandon on Thursday evening.

Officers responded to an alarm at a business on the 1600 block of First Street at around 10:20 p.m. after receiving a report about a smashed window, police said in a news release on Friday.

Police reviewed surveillance footage that showed a suspect wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and carrying a backpack that may be the colour yellow.

The man used bolt cutters to break the business’s front window and door. He was last seen heading west into an open field, police said.

Police used a drone and the K9 unit to help locate the man, but the matter remains under investigation.

SHOPLIFTING

A 22-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly stealing more than $200 worth of items from a business in Brandon’s Corral Centre last month.

On Sept. 30, a loss prevention officer reported a shoplifter had stolen a dash cam and other goods from a business, police said Friday.

Officers located the woman on Thursday and charged her with theft under $5,000. She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 14.
