A 14-year-boy was arrested on Tuesday after Brandon police say he flashed a pocketknife during an altercation with another student at a high school last week.

A staff member at the school informed a school resource officer with the Brandon Police Service about the incident that had occurred outside last Friday, police said in a news release on Wednesday.

The boy was charged with possession of a weapon and was later released from custody on an undertaking with a future court date for Nov. 10.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

A 47-year-old woman was charged with assault after she allegedly hit her partner on Tuesday night during an argument, police say.

Around 8:45 p.m., Brandon police were called to an apartment on Cornell Bay after receiving a report about a domestic dispute.

When police got to the scene, officers determined the suspect had hit a 34-year-old man. The woman was arrested and released on an undertaking with a court date scheduled for Nov. 12.

HOTEL ARREST

A man was arrested at a hotel in the west end of Brandon after he slapped a coffee cup from an employee’s hand, spilling it on her, when he was asked to leave the premises.

Police were called to the 3500 block of Victoria Avenue at 11 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of a man causing a disturbance.

Police said the man was also in breach of his daily curfew at the time of the incident.

He was charged with assault and failure to comply with a release order. He was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

RESIDENTIAL BREAK-IN

Brandon police have made one arrest in connection with a break-in at a house early Wednesday morning.

Police received a report around 1:40 a.m. of a break and enter at a home on the 700 block of 20th Street. The homeowner had just arrived and spoken with two men in the rear parking lot when he noticed a woman inside his residence, police said.

The two men then fled the scene and were briefly chased by the homeowner. When the homeowner returned to his house, the woman had also left.

Police found the basement window had been broken into with a pry bar. The homeowner provided descriptions of the suspects to police, who located a 45-year-old man in the area who matched one of the descriptions.

He was arrested and charged with break and enter with intent and possessing break-in instruments. Police said he was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

The K9 unit was on scene in an attempt to track the remaining suspects.

A woman was found in the area, but officers were unable to determine her involvement, if any, in the incident, police said.
