Wanted by police

Police are searching for 32-year-old Skye Blue Gillis.

On May 14, police tried to stop a vehicle in Brandon’s west end, but it fled, according to police. It was later found abandoned, allegedly with a stolen gun inside.

Gillis was charged after an investigation, but police have not been able to find her. A warrant for her arrest was issued on June 27.

Police search for missing person

Police are searching for missing 31-year-old Nevaeh Jawbone.

Jawbone was reported missing to Virden RCMP Wednesday at approximately 2:15 p.m., police say. They are originally from Winnipeg but was last seen on Monday at approximately 10:30 a.m. on King Street East in the Virden area.

Jawbone is described as five-foot-10, weighs approximately 215 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. They may be headed to Saskatoon or to British Columbia.

Police and Jawbone’s family are concerned for their safety.

Officer kicked during arrest

A man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly kicking a police officer.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., police responded to a report a man had “worn out of his welcome” at a residence and was trying to fight other people, according to police.

Officers arrested the man, but he reportedly kept struggling and kicked an officer while threatening them.

He was charged with resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer and uttering threats. He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 15.

Woman charged with fentanyl trafficking

Police charged a woman with trafficking fentanyl after she was allegedly found with the drug.

At approximately 2 a.m. Thursday, officers stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Sixth Street and the driver, a 28-year-old woman, had an arrest warrant, according to police.

A police dog searched her vehicle and allegedly found 1.7 grams of fentanyl.

She was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl, failing to comply with probation, theft under $5,000 and two counts of failing to appear in court.

Man found with knife after chase

Police reportedly found a man with a knife after a brief chase early Thursday morning.

At approximately 1 a.m., officers responded to a report of a man trying to get into vehicles in the 500 block of 12th Street. When police found the man and tried to arrest him, he took off running, police say.

He didn’t get far though, as police had the area surrounded.

He allegedly gave police a fake name and had a knife on him as well.

The 33-year-old man was charged with resisting arrest, four counts of failing to comply with a release order, identity fraud and carrying a concealed weapon. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Man charged with assault

Police charged a man with assault after he reportedly tried to grab a woman Wednesday morning.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a report the man followed a woman in the 800 block of 26th Street and asked her if she wanted to buy DVDs, police say. He then allegedly grabbed her by the waist band but she got free and contacted the police.

Then, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers responded to a separate report of a man checking balconies in the 1600 block of Sycamore Drive.

Officers arrested the 29-year-old man, and police say an investigation revealed he was the same person allegedly involved in the earlier incident.

He was charged with assault and scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 12.

Money stolen from vehicle

A woman was charged with stealing money from an unlocked vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 2 p.m., police responded to a report a woman just entered an unlocked vehicle and stole money out of it in the 1500 block of Ninth Street.

Police say the victim followed the 20-year-old woman until she was arrested by police in the 400 block of Eighth Street.

He was charged with theft under $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug 25.

Attempted break-in under investigation

Police are investigating after a man allegedly tried to kick down a door on June 25.

At approximately 2 p.m., the man reportedly tried to kick in the door of a residence on the 400 block of 12th Street, police say. He wasn’t able to get inside but did cause damage.

The man is described as having a medium build and was wearing a black hoodie with white bands on the side and a Nike brand logo on the back. At the time he was riding a red bike, police say.
