Woman charged with assaulting police

A woman allegedly found driving a stolen vehicle was charged with assaulting a police offer Tuesday evening.

At approximately 7 p.m., officers responded to a report a woman had just stolen merchandise from a business in the 800 block of 18th Street, according to police.

The woman allegedly tried to drive away, but hit a parked vehicle, according to police.

The owner of the vehicle tried to speak with the woman, but police say she assaulted him “several times.”

Police arrived and tried to arrest her, but she resisted and allegedly assaulted one of the officers.

Neither the officer or the driver of the parked vehicle needed medical attention.

The 27-year-old woman was charged with theft under $5,000, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, assault and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

Police say she will also be fined under the Highway Traffic Act.

Woman beaten on Pacific Avenue

Police charged a man after an alleged serious assault Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 4 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue. Police say a 29-year-old woman was found with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital via ambulance.

Police say there was a disagreement between the woman and a 30-year-old man. The man allegedly choked her and stomped on her head and body.

Officers found and arrested the man later in the day at his home, according to police.

He was charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault by choking.

Man charged with throwing rocks at windows

A man reportedly throwing rocks through windows was arrested Tuesday morning.

At approximately 11 a.m., police responded to a report a former tenant of a residence in the 500 block of 12th Street was throwing a rock at the window.

Police say the man also allegedly damaged windows on six other homes and two vehicles in the area.

At approximately 11 a.m., police arrested the 30-year-old man, who was allegedly under a condition to follow a 24-hour curfew.

The man was charged with mischief over $5,000 and four counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Woman arrested after chase

Police arrested a woman after a short chase Tuesday afternoon.

At approximately 2 p.m., police found a 22-year-old woman in the 300 block of First Street who was allegedly wanted on an outstanding charge.

The woman ran away, but she was arrested in the 200 block of Fourth Street, according to police.

She was charged with failing to comply with a release order and resisting arrest.
