The Fall Fest at the Riverbank Discovery Centre on Saturday was a huge success, according to Made in Manitoba market organizer Tanya Baker.

While the sun shone, many Brandon residents found their way to the Discovery Centre to take advantage of the free coffee and donuts as they made their way through the 50 vendors.

Baker said vendors weren’t charged for the final market of the year, and this seemed to encourage more people to participate, she said.

As well, raised funds were shared with the Manitoba Indigenous Cultural Education Centre.

“Normally, we get 25 vendors,” she said.

Table rentals are normally $25 each, she said, but they waived the fee for the final market.

It was the first time the Made in Manitoba market was held at the Riverbank Discovery Centre. Baker said she plans on coming back next year, based on the response she has received from the facility.

“Thankfully, being outside works. It gives us a bit more freedom. We were still cautious.”

A handwash station was at the entrance to the market. Baker also had someone counting people as they entered the grounds to keep tabs on group size.

Baker said the reception with the Riverbank Discovery Centre has been great and is already talking about hold the market next year. She’ll begin notifying vendors for next summer through Facebook and Instagram, or they can email her at madeinmb@outlook.com.
