Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP officers and local volunteers discovered the body of 30-year-old McCreary man on Thursday morning after he had been reported missing the previous day.
The body was found near Provincial Road 582, which is located just to the west of the community of Makinak.
The man was last seen leaving a residence in the Ochre River area around 2 a.m. on Wednesday and was believed to be returning to his home in McCreary. His disappearance was reported to the Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP later that day at 2:30 p.m.
Around 3 p.m., the man’s vehicle was found unoccupied on Provincial Road 582, prompting RCMP members and local volunteers to conduct a search of the surrounding area.
However, the search was called off around 8 p.m. due to the extreme cold.
On Thursday morning, RCMP officers and volunteers resumed their search and located the 30-year-old’s body roughly one kilometre away from where his vehicle was parked.
The Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this death.
