The Manitoba government is granting free access to all of its provincial parks for the entire month of February, according to a Monday announcement from Environment Minister Jeff Wharton.

This means vehicle permits will not be required for entry at any provincial park in Manitoba throughout the next 28 days, although Snopasses will still be needed for snowmobilers using groomed trails within these areas.

“Free park entry gives everyone more opportunities to enjoy nature and the great outdoors,” Wharton said in a morning news release.

Entrance fees, however, will still apply at national parks.

The Westman region is home to its fair share of provincial parks, including Asessippi, Turtle Mountain, Spruce Woods and Duck Mountain.
