The Women of Distinction event has been postponed due to the pandemic. The “Dessert Under the Stars,” gala was scheduled for Thursday evening at the Keystone Centre.
“Due to the Provincial Health Orders we were forced to make a very difficult decision to postpone the Women of Distinction event,” the YWCA Brandon’s Facebook post from Sept. 6, said. “This difficult decision was made so that all of the important, accomplished members of our community can attend an in-person event to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of the nominated women.
“We are unable to accommodate all of the nominees and their families, supporters, sponsors and volunteers who were set to attend, in the manner that they fully deserve. We believe taking a pause on the event at this time will keep all members of (the) community safe.”
Tickets purchased for the event can be refunded or will stand for the new date, which will be announced shortly, according to the post.
