A man who allegedly assaulted a woman on two separate occasions was arrested on Tuesday after he surrendered to police.
The victim went to the Brandon police station last week to report two altercations, one of which had just occurred.
After an argument, the man prevented her from leaving the home by blocking her path and taking her shoes, the woman told police, and repeatedly grabbed her and threw her around.
When she tried screaming for help, the man allegedly covered the woman’s mouth and blocked her breathing while telling the woman that he’d kill them both.
The woman managed to get away and went to the police station.
The woman further disclosed the man had also assaulted her on Oct. 11 after returning to her home after an evening out with friends.
The man allegedly hit her head multiple times against the floor and would not allow her to get away by holding onto her clothes when she tried to get up.
Police were initially unable to locate the man as he fled the home.
However on Tuesday, the man went to the police station to surrender himself.
The 21-year-old man was arrested for assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats as well as overcoming resistance by attempting to suffocate.
He was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to appear in court on Wednesday.
