Brandon’s fire department is donating emergency response supplies to the frontlines in Ukraine.
Brandon Fire and Emergency Services is donating 22 firefighting helmets, five scoop stretchers, five long backboards, two Kendrick extrication devices, one trauma bag, one Sager traction splint and one stair chair, according to a city press release.
City of Brandon employee Oleksandr Holovan is co-ordinating the delivery in his spare time. The items will be bought to Winnipeg, where they will be shipped to Ukraine.
Fire Chief Scott McDonald said BFES is honoured to take part and the items will be used to help people most affected by the war.
“I am very appreciative of all of the support that we have received from the City of Brandon,” Holovan said in a press release.
“I have close family members back home in Ukraine, and know that all of our efforts will help Ukraine resist Russian aggression.”
