Canadian Blood Services has reaffirmed that it will not “at this time” be reversing the decision to close the Brandon donor clinic.
As such, the final day of operation remains Thursday, June 8, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The clinic will also be open during these same hours on Wednesday, as well as from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Once the clinic closes, blood donations will be accepted at twice-per-month mobile clinics Canadian Blood Services will begin hosting in Brandon, driving out from Winnipeg.
These clinics will be held between the Keystone Centre and Clarion Hotel and Suites.
The first Brandon mobile clinic will be on Thursday, June 15, with more information available online at blood.ca.
Brandon-Souris Conservative MP Larry Maguire launched a petition in March to help push those in charge to keep the Brandon clinic open. While he gathered more than 1,700 signatures, the petition hasn’t resulted in change as yet.
Earlier this week, he pledged to keep up the effort.
