Maple Leaf Foods’ free mask giveaway will begin Wednesday, with masks being handed out at the Keystone Centre and Riverbank Discovery Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The giveaway is in partnership with the City of Brandon, wherein disposable three-ply masks will be handed out to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
At the Keystone Centre, vehicles are being encouraged to enter the area at Queens Avenue and 18th Street, pull up at the mask station to receive a bag of 25 masks through the window and then exit out on Hill Avenue.
At the Riverbank Discovery Centre, masks will be handed out at 545 Conservation Drive inside the gazebo at the parking lot.
In addition to these mask pickup locations, Maple Leaf is delivering nearly 10,000 masks to local social services in Brandon this week, as part of the 500,000 masks they’re offering throughout the community.
Maple Leaf Foods employs approximately 2,000 people at the Brandon pork processing plant, of whom at least 56 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19, though it was not believed to have spread at the workplace.
